This painting of a local horse in a field with a view of Arthur’s Seat from the Braid Hills in Edinburgh lacked something and languished in my studio for many months – eventually I altered the background and this changed the dynamic into something I felt was more pleasing with how I wanted to portray this beautiful animal.
