Figurative Art – bringing the story to life

Figures often appear in my work. The paintings shown here are useful in telling a story of how my work has developed. From the very early painting of the Bay of Skaill (Orkney) entitled, ‘Just the Two of Us‘ to the more recent paintings of figures and family scenes on the beaches at North Berwick on coloured canvas – Granddad, Circle of Life, A Helping Hand and others … my use of painting techniques has evolved significantly to where it is now.

Nuclear Family Series

These 2 paintings (below) depict a departure from my settled style of painting but were fun to create. Both are painted on black canvas boards with an emphasis on a broken colour technique.

Email if you’d like to own them or have your own family painted in this funky style.

Do you have an inner geek? Great (me too) ….so you’ll want to check out my other page for more details about Giclée prints and printing.

Good to know

The figure paintings are created in oils and painted onto either box canvas or canvas on board.

Whilst framing is necessary for those artworks on canvas boards, depending on your preference, you can choose whether to hang box canvas artworks as they are (since they have painted sides) or have them framed.
